Vitiligo, Skin Infection Symptoms and Vitiligo Treatment
Vitiligo is a common disease of skin caused by pigmentation disorder and white spots appear on the skin usually occurring on both sides of the body in the same location. Vitiligo occurs in 1-2% of the population.
Common areas of involvement are the face, lips, hands, arms, legs, and genital areas.
There is no main cause of Vitiligo, but there are various theories, which develop this disease. People, who have vitiligo, develop antibodies that destroy melanocytes and turn open them instead of protecting them.
It affects sex, all races and all ages. Vitiligo is an auto-immune disorder where antibodies are formed against body's own cells, leading to destruction of the pigment cells (melanocytes). This is a complex and ill-understood process, making it difficult to treat.

The traditional therapies such as the PUVA system and steroid creams, new technologies have been developed, including narrow-band UVB, Pseudocatalase cream, excimer lasers, skin grafting and pigment transplantation, topical psoralens, and potentially, the use of immunomodulators.In fair-skinned individuals, avoiding tanning of normal skin can make areas of vitiligo almost unnoticeable because the (no pigment) white skin, of vitiligo has no natural protection from sun.
