Acne Causes - What are the causes and effects of Acne and PimplesThere are several factors cited as probable causes of acne which also goes the same for the question on why exactly some people get acne and some do not. Androgens cause excess oil to build up and clog your pores. These oil-clogged pores lead to whiteheads and blackheads. The degree to which hormones influence skin - and whether or not they cause acne - is different for each individual. The P. acnes bacteria plays a role in causing inflamed red pimples. The male hormone known as androgens that are present in both male and females alike, they are the cal prate. They are what produce the oil in the oil glands. During puberty these oil glands become over active which in turn causes a build up of oil that in turn acts like a traffic jam meaning that it is very slow moving and backs up. It's this very thing that causes the pus to build up and form pimples or acne. Heredity is also a factor in causing acne. Stress, certain medications, and the use of certain cosmetics can also encourage the onset of acne. The use of anabolic steroids or any medication containing halogens (iodides, chlorides, bromides), lithium, barbiturates, or androgens; and, exposure to high levels of chlorine compounds, particularly chlorinated dioxins, is also said to cause severe, long-lasting acne, called Chloracne.
