Acne Inversa, Synonyms, Symptoms, Treatment of Hidradenitis SuppurativaAcne Inversa is a chronic type of acne known as Hidradenitis Suppurativa and is characterized by oral occlusion with secondary bacterial infection, evolving into abscesses which eventually rupture. Similar to acne, the inflammation of acne inversa may be associated with infection, which, in turn, may cause pus to form. This condition (Acne Inversa) is not contagious and can be called as recurrent disease impacting inverse parts of the body such as breasts, armpits, and groin, and places hair follicles and porcine glands are located. In only the United States there is a conservative estimation of one million people who suffer from acne inversa; the actual number can be a lot higher. Sufferers of acne inversa frequently are unable to work, exercise, or complete simple daily activities because of a foul odor from the drainage, tiredness and fever brought about by extreme inflammation, and their physical limitations from pain and disfigurement of skin. Acne inversa is diagnosed at later stages because it is often considered as boils, carbuncles and other skin infections in its early stages because the symptom complex looks very much the same with those conditions. This type of acne is very debilitating. Abscesses are usually large, deep, painful and very hard to heal. Acne inversa has also different stages:
Causes of Acne InversaThe causes of acne inversa are not yet known. There are some conditions that do not cause acne inversa but can make it worse. These conditions include obesity, stress, onset of menstrual periods, extreme heat, extreme perspiration etc. It develops when sweat glands become clogged, either by perspiration or because incomplete development makes it difficult for them to drain properly. Hidradenitis Suppurativa Treatment and cureAcne Inversa is rarely fatal but it can be fatal if an individual is immunocompromised or has an overwhelming systemic infection. To date, there exists no cure, or even an effective treatment; simply put: what may work for one patient may have no positive effect on another patient. This acne can be reduced by applying topical antibiotics, antiseptics or acne preparations. |
